Stuart Briggs

Living with sarcoidosis, the good, the bad, and lots of in between.

  • A cat in the morning

I woke and opened my blinds, sat there was one of my neighbours cats, when I tapped the window it turned around and still seemed half asleep ha.

It almost seems to have a Hitler type ‘tash’ and face pulling…

  • Bianchi C2C Via Nirone 7

And it happened, a road bike through the cycle to work scheme, super grateful to work, yes I have already been asked if I have been out on it but, it is on the agenda, a target that moves, health then fitness, matter over mind, it seems my health is stable and so I will take some small tentative pedal stroke on it, all in good time!

Understandably it might have been too big for a neighbour to receive, even getting it into my flat, mind you, the delivery man did say its one of the lightest bikes he has delivered…

Since starting my career, erm, started cycling, I have always loved the colour scheme of the Bianchi’s, I have never had an Italian frame, or even a fully kitted out Italian bike, absolutey loved lifting this out.

This is just so special, it felt good, really light and very comfortable to hold, it tasted like I had been waiting for ages! oh, the bike is going to get a great review soon, just a little warmer weather and a few items to buy and we there.

  • The Magnum, live at Delius lived next door

Two videos of original tracks here, yet another brilliant up and coming young band from Bradford, are we about to see a resurgence of some greatly needed alternative rock and roll music from this country!?

I love how YouTube get rid of the shakiness, it adds a whole new dimension to these alternative songs, very impressed guys!

  • The Rook, live at the Ship Inn Mirfield 1st April 2013

At last, I’m posting a few songs by The Rook, now, the thing here is, not too much typing from me – shhh, but five superb original songs, these guys have what it takes, and beyond.

    The Rook

Its not very often we view bands open up with an instrumental, especially original stuff, but it sounds like the guitar is telling the start to a story.

There you have it, very little writing on my behalf, left it to the music, again, superb are the words.

  • Tell you what again

Iv so much to write, about so much! but, this has been the coldest winter in ages, in longer than my 48 years, its my first winter working while being a rare sarcoid, this past week iv been learning some pretty tough new skills at work, enjoyed, its been a superb challenge, but then I get home and just need to regenerate my own heat and eventually hit the bed.

Lets have a reminder of the weather towards the end of March 2013…

What appear like hot ash plunging to earth is simply my phones flash against the falling snow.

What appears like a street light is simply the flash against the near horizontal snowing!

Yet the same week in March 2012 I performed the following song, my own song about Sarcoidosis, the only song about sarcoidosis on our gorgeous planet, aptly named too…

Memories of a gorgeous March day.

  • Pure absolute power…

Umphhh, that is all I can say, a perfect blend of the 300 Watt Marshall cab and the 150 Watt Bugera head – brilliance, I cant hear what your saying…

Tonight will be sooo good, Matts band supporting Jacobs band at Delius lived next door, cant wait, a first of its kind with much to follow.

  • Happy 77th Mum

Only 23 years until you get a letter from the future king!

Love your loads, glad you liked my card.

  • Mind over matter over mind

Jeez, we know the usual saying is mind over matter, but, matter over mind seems to be kicking in – ouch…

  • A fine test in Leeds

Yesterday was a good day for many reasons, but quite importantly I worked (yes overtime!), followed by a great night out in Leeds straight after, from the very start it was amusing, I get on a completely empty train at Ilkley station in the morning, and some guy comes and sits next to me, erm, time to get off and go for a walk for me!

We were due to meet at ‘Spoons’ in Leeds train station, I ended up at the White Rose bar, woah, some characters in there, guess I fit in, but rushed out after realising I was in the wrong place! We called at a few bars, very good music, this town is lively, and we should have eaten at ‘Reds’ but it was full, ended up at Rib Shack in the Corn Exchange, I think?! fantastic food.

Im so happy ‘The wall of flames’ was not attempted, the staff were very courteous and allowed us to test the sauce first, jeez, that is the hottest sauce ever, even ice didn’t cool the mouth down, what fun seeing us six falling around the table with mouths on fire…

During the evening, well, a woman sits next to me “what do you do then” she asks, my reply “I like walking by the canal when its frozen over” what planet caused me to say that!? future wife material she was… but in the station when three of us are waiting for the taxi some guy walks up and says to me “do you have a big cock” then walks off, what the… ha ha.

Top night, first big night out with friends since returning to work and straight after working too, a good test on myself, and very happy with the result.

  • Root canal shock

Well, today it was another visit to the Leeds Dental Institute, the upper right ‘2’ needed taking down to gum level for a denture to be fit, ended up having some huge root canal done, the dentist – not a student, mentioned that it is usually two visits, and that the root was in pretty bad shape so decided to do it all. He did a great job, very polite, I must be honest though, I can’t wear the denture, they are making another but iv no chance of singing with them.
