Living with sarcoidosis, the good, the bad, and lots of in between.

  • Oral hearing is arriving

Well, here it is, the hearing, I have one hour to explain why it is all wrong, the hearing is about if any law has been broke, no it has not but its wrong, I will work through my case hearing and then take it to the parliamentary ombudsman, I will succeed in getting sarcoidosis sufferers the recognition we deserve.

6th Feb 2011 was my initial assessment, its (my maths are not too bad) about two years to the date, and all im after is better sarcoidosis recognition, I think, I really think I’m capable of doing this, and what a great position to be in, that I have got a job through Remploy, I just wanted ‘proper’ support while we had to find out what my sarcoidosis was upto, thankfully Ssafa and the RBL helped me big time, no, the system did not fail me, it was Atos that caused the system to pretty much not believe me, even when the medics and local MPs wrote in my support. If you have nothing on then get on there.

  • It will take me forever

Sometimes we get the daftest of offers…

Why wait a lifetime for a holiday of a lifetimes? its simple, it takes a lifetime to save for it you idiots, arrggghhhh.

  • The problems with doing it just once per week

It dawned on me, im still living like I used to do upto 23rd Oct 2012, washing up once per week, I would put the hot water on, on a Sunday morning and do the whole lot, but realising what gets missed…

Yes, as you can view here, room is still aplenty to store a little more unwashed cutlery, plates, glasses, containers, anything actually, only wash when required. Sometimes I get a surprise, just needs a little jam mixing into it.

Yes a little slopping of jam would mix well, here its quite obviously tempting to give it ago, you agree? to be honest its a very rare occurrence that I waste food, oh, this appears to be four day old rice….

  • My Matt’s school concert

Last Thursday evening was Matt’s school performance thing, so wish I had remembered to take my digital camera, hence I need a decent phone, I can not even find where the videos are stored in it!

This is the ticket, OK that’s obvious! taken when I got home, the show impressed me, Matt was with most of the acts – or so it seemed.

Sorry about the quality Son, if I zoomed in closer the quality got really shit, you were brilliant.

    Matthew Briggs!

  • A good bad santa

Best Santa film ever, absolutely bonkers, love it, Bernie Mac is the security guard. As I get settled, comfortable, and accustomed to work, then part time Santa’s sound a great idea!!!

RIP Bernie Mac, fellow sarcoid, most do not understand and doubt us.

  • That first Sainsbury’s delivery

Possibly the largest shop I have ever achieve as a single, on my own, not lonely though definitely good looking Dad, this cost £70.60 after a Utility Warehouse £10 voucher (in-depth article on them later), it got me an awful lot, cooking directions will follow, and at that super cheap way to cook loads that only I seem to do as a real on-line person!

Here you can see my waste bin, a Woolovers plastic packaging bag hanging on a cupboard handle, the thing is, behind that cupboard door is a rear mounted bin – that still needs mounting.

The best lime juice I have ever twitched to, mega burst when thirsty catches me in the night, also decided to store these root vegetables like they are meant to be stored, in a cool dark area – so they say, but the cupboard might be too warm, hmmm?

Yes correct, the fridge bulb light has blown up, but just look how all that is stuffed in there, proper impressed with it all.

Jar of curry sauce needs replacing with fresh cooked sauce, something I need to get better, erm, learn. Main thing here is not the spreads that are in plentiful but those four tins of Glenryck pilchards, two per week, meant to be good for my heart, its easy to forget about that problem too, but thankfully it reminds me ha!

And so that is the main once per month Sainsbury’s delivery shop, the next is booked for this arriving Saturday, but, that is more of a top up shop at around £50, and so, we have one big main cooking shop, and then a smaller top up shop at a total of about £130 per month, that’s still cheap, I really have learnt to live cheap but healthy these last couple of years, yes im working now!

  • I love my job

Everyone knows by now that I feel so lucky and happy to be working in an environment that I enjoy and seems good for me, even secret Santa got it spot on!

How did he know I really am sweaty enough, oh, sweet even…!

And so next year I will get cards for all, I have never had so many cards, well, over the last ten years.

  • How to be good and healthy orally

    Its something that very many folks really do seem to be bad at, but with the aid of mechanics and gadgets, then no one should really have any excuse to lapse. You really need to find out what are the best types of head to get at all those hardest of areas, yet also decent small gadgets to slip in between;

This is an old head worn out, it probably went on far too long at about a year, once worn out then the bristles are not very good at scrubbing the teeth or gums.

Today I started on something that I have never had before, a double head for, for me, one goes in one direction while the other does another, very little gets wasted, very impressed, and in a pack of four, now im ready for my new tooth on 5th March 2013!

What we have here is lots of in-betweens, starting with the floss stick and pointer, this gets into the tightest of areas below the gum line, the first interdental tooth brush is a tiny 0.45mm, this can just about get below the gum line, the next size is 0.6mm which is ideal for the tight spaces between them there teeth, and finally the big size is 1.1mm, this fits brilliantly between those cranky teeth that I have… Oh, and before the floss stick on the left, yes appears a hair, this has nothing to do with looking after your oral hygiene, erm…

It was once said to me that a woman looks at teeth and shoes, and yes she did a couple of years as a dental hygienist before returning to M & S York, I wonder where now, and that she is now ok?

Last but not least, do not swallow, after swishing it around the mouth for about a minute then you must gargle and then spit, this should be done a couple of times per day, usually mid morning and at the evening.

  • Letting folks down

Tonight I let some pals down, they have been great over the years and I were looking forward to ‘mad Friday’ for the start of most folks Christmas break, I just struggle to explain. In April this 2012 my sarcoid attacked me big time, worse than the diagnosis of those early times, and so I pushed myself and we reckon its under control, great, get with Remploy Leeds and achieve a job that I proper like, I will keep this short, I am a one in ten, no silly not the UB40.

I appear to be doing what most of the rarest sarcoids unfortunately struggle to do, I have been given a chance to work, and somewhere that I enjoy, folks are great, humour is mad and, erm, yes they do blush me sometimes, but that is definitely a fair game?

Where were we? ah, I really am rare and pushing the limits, I need rest after a good weeks work, my head did say up until Thursday morning that perhaps I can do mad Friday, I learnt a lesson at the works ‘do’ in that I need to pretty much have minimal movement after a days work, oh it really is so difficult to explain, I really am enjoying work but my body packs in if I don’t rest enough.

  • New years resolution thingy

Im thinking about taking up smoking as my new years resolution, how to take up smoking is explained a little below the video, just to compliment the old habit of drinking, you see, its like this, erm…

Is it such a bad habit? if affordable then why not, more than too many do, hmmm, but do check out that middle finger of up yours, unintentional obviously but it points out quite well really!

To take up smoking then obviously start on the nicotine patches, then after about a month move onto those false cigarettes, then about a month after that start on the full blown tobacco.

By then maybe alcohol patches will be available? now that is a great idea, double JD and coke please, then stick it anywhere, what about pints of beer patches with good head?

I can’t believe I dropped to eight stone at that stage of my sarcoid.
